On a blustery cold day
Before a terrible snow storm
Such an awful thing happened
Unbeknownst to me.

After celebrating at a Christmas Party
To my surprise
I will never know why
This cat-and-mouse chase
Wreaked havoc throughout my place.
I was stunned and shocked in disbelief;
If someone could only see
The look on my face.

With a diligent swipe of her paw
It went kerplunk
Into the plastic floral glass
Positioned on the kitchen table.

Had no idea my hero Samii was capable
Of doing such a devious deed
How she was so determined to do so.

I took one look inside the glass
One-third full of Polar Seltzer Raspberry Lime
I screamed in awe, “Oh, My God!”
Not a single movement.
How she thought of this tactic
I will never understand
But, she really did it!
She truly deserves a special treat
For her magnificent feat!

“Confession” by Nalbritt

   Posted by: nalbritt   in Poetry

The cold morning air lingers

in through the invisible screen that separates

out from in.

I push through the door

into the new day

and make my way down to see you,

where I will find the relief of our

complicated past hinder

my valiant claim, a confession

of secret obsessions that crush

and bruise both our hearts.

But as I lay on the floor, curled

up around your feet, I cannot

open my mouth and hear myself

speak the words out loud

and let the sincerity of the pain

decide if this is the true way I feel.

And should I use the words in the wrong

and address you and stutter and say

things that I don’t mean,

And hurt you by peeling back

the scabs of old wounds

that refuse to fully heal,

And should I lie? For I am unsure

that this love for you is

pure and true.

So, for now it remains secret

until this confession will no longer have

such a daunting complexion between us.

“Silent Kiss On The Water” by Sharon Wetherall

Posted by: sharon wetherell   in Poetry

The ripples they meet in a silent kiss

Across the water where the line has gone down

The rudd are biting, they seem to like worms

Its making us smile with no sign of a frown

They are only little but there must be more there

They do grow bigger than that

I need to keep getting up to see

From where I’ve been comfortably sat

Its such a great way to spend an evening

Or even a morning or afternoon

Just relaxing by the waters edge

Whether the suns up or even the moon

“Forget All Your Worries” by Sharon Wetherall

Posted by: sharon wetherell   in Poetry

The branches of the trees they are twisted

And the leaves they do like to rustle

It’s a far cry from the world we know

Away from the hustle and bustle

You can really forget all your worries

You have when you are at home

Come down to the lake and go fishing

It’s a real worry free place to go

The fisherman, he’s caught a carp

Although he really wanted the tench

No matter, no worries, it’s a catch

No reason for fists to clench

I can see why fishing’s relaxing

And now that I’ve watched, I know

Its all about skill and patience

And making the time just to go

I’m so glad I came and I saw

All the wonderful things that I did

The duck, the squirrel and the spider

The dragonfly and robin that hid

It’s especially nice to be with him

That fisherman that caught the fish

And the dragonfly that just landed onto my shoe

Like a fairy by to make a wish

Was a treat for a special persons birthday

And not for me, not at all

However, I’ve found that I like it

Watching fishing and seeing nature having a ball

So I think I’ll come again one day

And sit by the waterside

With my love fishing next to me

And my poetry flowing with pride
