“The Rain” by Joe Pirraglia

   Posted by: admin   in Poetry

The Rain

Falls incessantly
On the cement in my backyard

I can hear it
As I try to write my own music
In my room

It keeps me company
Breaks the silence
Of the melancholy love song
I compose

The lyrics dry
Melody dull
And steady

Like rain that
Falls incessantly
On the cement in my backyard

It doesn’t “wash away the pain”
Never “brings new life”
But burdens the life
Of my love song
Decomposing

With the rhythm
Falling from the sky
