We are drops of water separated by individuality. When one attains liberation, individuality become a shadow, and we become part of the Godliness of the ocean.

In that Godliness, there is no racism, no religious differences, no nationalism nor hatred; that ocean is filed with love only.

With every breath we take, our mind keeps on the struggle to safeguard the ego which binds us to the reality of the world projected by the mind. In that reality, ones existence is independent of other beings; we feel that we are separate from the others, we become self-centered, and climb up the ladder of success while stepping on the weak and poor.

The ego keeps us away from godliness, and clings to atheistic and ignorant science– in order to describe the happenings in the universe. The ego tries to separate science from spirituality, although, the destination of both is to find the truth behind our existence.

When the universe does not revolve around the wishes of the ego, the ego gets hurt, and the person suffers. It is the ego, which creates a world of independence from the spiritual dimension in us. It is the ego, that denies the spiritual element that binds us and makes us who we are.

Lust, anger, greed, jealousy, and hatred are the creations of the mind. The mind is from the physical brain. When the brain is dead, the ego is no more, the astral or subtle body remains until rebirth. Consciousness is always there, in all the stages of our manifestation, either in the spiritual, or material. The mind is needed for survival in the material dimension. However, through survival it accumulates the dirt and negativity around us. The goal of spirituality is to cleanse the mind.

In western Abrahamic religions, the negative doings of the ego is often referred to as ‘Satan’. The mis-happening in the world are blamed to the Satan. And the goal of such religions is to seek the protection of god, through good deeds, for the protection of Satan. These religions revolve around the ‘reward for heaven’ and the fear from hell’. One also accumulate points by inviting people from other religions groups to these religions which claim to be the Saviour.

However, the real Satan is in the mind.

In the east, Dharmic religions have been well aware of the ego, and the major theme of the Vedic scriptures has always been to condition the mind, and eventually kill the ego.

The mind cannot be conditioned through knowledge only. Knowledge conditions the mind to some level, but does not have the ability to kill the ego. Therefore, the main methodology in the Vedic scripture for the science of self-realization has been meditation. Meditation has been practised well over 5000 years. Excavations in the Indus valley civilisation has shown ancient stone figures in meditative postures.

There is no external Satan who makes us do bad and be mean. It is all in the mind. In order to be free from suffering, one has to go through the required conditioning. The first step is knowledge and deep devotion.

One has to surrender the mind to God. Meditation is about surrendering the mind to the supreme being, and becoming part of the supreme being.

When the mind is surrendered, and the ego is eventually killed, a new person is born who is one with the ocean of Samadhi. This is total freedom. Freedom from the mind and ego. And this is our natural state.

“SOCRATES” by Cardinal Ebomuche

Posted by: Cardinal   in Philosophy, Poetry

An eloquent stutterer he was,
whose anecdotes were luscious and true
he lived in the days of aesthetics,
but had no comeliness in size or stature;

His teachings were unadulterated and void of fallacy
Ipso facto he was condemned to the gallows,
he tasted of the legendary hemlock potion
And died before he lived

“Thoughts On Unity” by Maranda Russell

   Posted by: admin   in Philosophy

Yesterday I was really struggling with my spirituality and was getting more depressed as I talked it over with my husband.  He just didn’t seem to understand my frustration at being stuck in a church that I don’t really believe in.  I would like to change denominations, because theologically I am night and day compared to the others in our church.  I don’t believe in an eternal Hell, they do.  I don’t believe that Christians are the only ones who are truly spiritual and in communion with God, they do believe that and constantly try and pound it in your head.  But right now it’s just not possible for us to leave this church due to certain circumstances that I won’t go into right now.  Let’s just say that we are stuck there for the moment.  So to cheer myself up, and keep from fighting with my husband over the issue, I decided to just go out driving.
I ended up in the parking lot of a Unity church(one of the denominations I would consider switching to).  I noticed they had a labyrinth in their back yard that was there for anyone to use.  I started walking the labyrinth and as I walked it I started to feel more peaceful.  There is something about walking a pattern that is so calming.  After walking in circles for awhile, I finally reached the center.  There in the center was a garden stone that said “All that matters is love”.  I stood there staring at the rock, reading it over and over.  How true a sentiment.  Sometimes I get so caught up in the theological differences I have with those around me that I forget what is really important.
After walking the labyrinth I went and sat in the church’s prayer garden.  They had several garden stones there that said things like “peace”, “love”, etc.  And then I saw a stone that said “Om”.  This made me laugh.  I have been a practitioner of Buddhist Meditation off and on and have sat and chanted this mantra.  It’s not something you expect to see in a Christian church, but it made me so happy to see a symbol of one faith I love, Buddhism, so close to another symbol I love, the cross.  It made me feel so much better to know that somewhere they aren’t as prejudice and exclusive as what I am used to.  It would be wonderful to go to a place so open to other beliefs & cultures.  I just pray that someday I will get to go to a place that I really believe in.  A place that can see beyond color, religion and other stupid little dividers.

“The Purpose” by Rohitash Chandra

   Posted by: admin   in Philosophy

“When you realize that wealth and status in society are temporary and joy and happiness does not depend on them, when you realize that you can only eat so much and the abundant wealth you own will be left behind with your body after death, when you realize that you can only drive one car and live in one house at a time, when you realize that the external materials are temporary and joy does not depend on the external but relies on internal peace;when you realize these: then life will have a different purpose, the purpose to live in joy, to end the suffering of others, to contribute to nature and the society, and to bring the violent world a peaceful change. “
